The Google Pixel 6a – The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

The Google Pixel 6a is an Android smartphone, part of the Google Pixel product line. It is a midrange variant of the Pixel 6 Pro, and was officially unveiled on May 11 as part of Google’s I/O keynote speech. Let’s take a closer look. What’s good about the Pixel 6a? It has a 6.1-inch 1080p OLED display, a single 8-megapixel front-facing camera, and an In-display fingerprint sensor. Nevertheless, the downsides of the phone make it worth the money.

6.1-inch 1080p OLED display

The new budget smartphone Google Pixel 6a has officially been announced and pre-booking has begun on Flipkart. While the Pixel 6a is not as powerful as the Nothing Phone (1), it still competes with it with a 6.1-inch 1080p OLED display and 60Hz refresh rate. Both phones feature in-screen fingerprint sensors and support for HDR10+ playback.

The Pixel 6a’s display is a 6.1-inch OLED with a 60-Hz refresh rate and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The display is covered in Corning’s older Gorilla Glass 3 and is locked to a 60Hz refresh rate. The screen also features an in-display fingerprint scanner and a stereo speaker. Its battery is rated at 4410mAh. It supports 18W wired fast charging.

Compared to the iPhone SE’s 4.7-inch LCD panel, the Pixel 6a’s 6.1-inch OLED display is significantly brighter. Its higher resolution makes it easier to view text and video content. The screen also offers deeper blacks. The Pixel 6a’s 6.1-inch 1080p OLED display captures 130 percent of the sRGB color spectrum.

For $449, the Pixel 6a offers great performance, speed, and a modern feature set. The display is nearly identical to that of Apple’s iPhone 13 and weighs just a few grams more than the base model. It also has an optical fingerprint sensor, dual camera setup, and Google’s flagship Tensor chip. But it’s not perfect for Apple users and smaller phone users.

The camera on the Pixel 6a stays in the top center of the display, and is now more ergonomically placed. The phone is made of recycled aluminum and comes with new colors such as Charcoal, Chalk, and Sage. The device also has an 18W charger with USB Power Delivery 3.0. The Pixel 6a’s top and bottom speakers deliver clear audio. This device can be used for video chat as well.

The Pixel 6a features a 6.1-inch 1080p OLED HDR display. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 3 and Victus. IP67 water and dust resistance is a welcome feature for a pocket-friendly smartphone. There are a few other features that make this phone so great:

Single 8-megapixel front-facing camera

The camera on the Pixel 6a is the same as that on the Pixel 6. Its IMX355 sensor is a single-lens reflex with an aperture of f/2.2. The front-facing camera is also the same, with a single, 8-megapixel sensor. Google relies on its top-tier computational photography software for its impressive photography. The phone isn’t perfect, but it’s certainly far better than most competing smartphones.

The Google Pixel 6a has a 6.1-inch FHD+ OLED display, 6GB of RAM, and 128 GB of storage. It also has a Google Tensor chip and over 24 hours of battery life. The phone will be available in Sage, Charcoal, and Chalk colors.

Despite lacking a telephoto lens, the Pixel camera makes up for this with digital zoom. While this sometimes results in heavy grain and noise, the camera offers surprisingly high levels of clarity. Night Sight lets you adjust the brightness in your photos, and you can use the camera’s software to remove unwanted objects from your photos. Although the rear camera has a better quality camera, the single front-facing camera on the Pixel 6a is still not as impressive as the rear camera.

The Pixel 6A comes with an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. The camera is paired with a Google Tensor chip, which helps improve the quality of your photos. Other camera features include Real Tone skin tones, Face Unblur, Night Sight, and Magic Eraser. You can even tweak the color of objects with its Magic Eraser tool.

The rear of the Pixel 6a sports a two-tone design. The camera is set in a horizontal bar and is raised up from the main rear. Without a case, you won’t be able to lay the phone flat. Its power and volume rocker are on the right side. Despite its large screen, the Google Pixel 6a’s camera placement means it isn’t easy to take good pictures.

In-display fingerprint sensor

The Pixel 6a is the latest smartphone from Google. It offers Android as Google envisioned it, with smooth performance powered by the Tensor processor. But it also shows that Google made some compromises to hit the $449 price point. Its main complaint, which was first noted by Beebom, is that the phone does not have biometric security. To remedy this problem, Google is working to fix the issue.

While the company hasn’t confirmed if the Pixel 6a will have an in-display fingerprint sensor, the company has confirmed that the phone will have a different one. The company’s senior vice president of devices, Rich Osterloh, confirmed the change and said it will improve the fingerprint experience. However, the company has yet to confirm the cost of the Pixel 6a’s fingerprint sensor.

Although the video is not the final version, the device is running a working software. If it were, the device would have the same in-display fingerprint sensor as the Pixel 6 Pro. However, this change could be because Google wants to keep the price of the Pixel 6a low. In this case, the company may have removed the capacitive fingerprint scanner, which is unreliable.

The latest Google phone is set to launch on July 28. However, some users have already complained about its in-display fingerprint sensor. A recent report found that the device can be unlocked with any finger – even those which are not registered in the phone. It was posted on Reddit and linked to a video by Tech YouTube personalities that demonstrated the vulnerability. This shows how vulnerable the Pixel 6a is to security breaches.

If it uses the same in-display fingerprint sensor as the Pixel 6 Pro, this could be an upgrade. In-display fingerprint sensors are generally faster and more reliable than other systems. However, the Pixel 6a will have a redesigned display, and the fingerprint sensor should be in a recessed circle. Although this doesn’t make the camera placement any less important, it will help the user unlock the phone more quickly.

Limited battery

Despite being one of the best Android phones available, the Pixel 6a is not without its drawbacks. Its battery life is limited – it only lasts about a day with normal use. To extend its battery life, you should look for power banks with a minimum capacity of 2400mAh. If you are looking for a good value smartphone, the Pixel 6a is well worth considering, especially as its battery is now starting to go on sale.

The Pixel 6a’s battery life is excellent. While the phone doesn’t have a wireless charging option, it does charge at a maximum speed of 18W. It doesn’t come with a wall charger, but it comes with a USB-C to C cable. Charging the device will bring its battery up to 65% in just over an hour and half. In comparison, a 5,000mAh cell in a Galaxy A53 5G can charge to full capacity in around 85 minutes. Similarly, an iPhone SE (2022) will reload its battery in about an hour and half.

While the battery life is a drawback, the Pixel 6a’s display and software are generally impressive. The phone features a 6.1-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1080 pixels per inch (HD). Its dual 12-MP wide and ultra-wide cameras allow for detailed photos in low-light and realistic skin tones. Additionally, the camera saves power, which is crucial for daily use.

Despite its mid-range price, the Pixel 6a has a flagship processor, 5G, and an impressive main camera. The Pixel 6a isn’t as fast as the iPhone SE, which packs Apple’s flagship A15 Bionic processor. But the Pixel 6a’s unique features are worth the price. And the battery life isn’t the only drawback. There are many other features to be happy with in this smartphone, including an 18W wired charger, a 60Hz display, and a great design.
